On March 28th, 2025, Dr Alexandra Muthu chaired the Measure What Matters for Doctor Health & Wellbeing Summit in Auckland, with attendees also joining remotely. The event brought together healthcare leaders, researchers, and experts from various industries to discuss meaningful ways to measure and improve doctor wellbeing across Aotearoa New Zealand.
Keynote speakers included Guy Beatson from the Institute of Directors Governance Leadership Centre, Mike O’Brien from HASANZ and the GM Safety Forum, and Dr Kathryn Hutt from Doctors Health New South Wales. Participants engaged in roundtable sessions to share insights on areas of concern and effective strategies for measuring and improving doctor health and wellbeing, with input from.
Discussions focused on using data, systems improvement, workplace wellbeing, and cross-sector collaboration to drive meaningful change. Attendees explored actionable steps to measure and address the unique challenges faced by doctors, with sustainable careers and improving patient outcomes the ultimate goals.
The summit closed with a call to action, emphasizing the need for collective effort to create systemic improvements and ensure doctors’ wellbeing is prioritized in health sector policies.
